Day 3: Luxembourg: Town Part 2

Well, today we spent some more time walking around the fine capital of my new home country. And today, not only did Charel narrate, but I took PICTURES! Mom's blog post here: Day 3

Ok not many, but a few.

We started by taking a bus to the train station, then walking up Avenue de la Gare, towards the downtown area. After crossing what the Luxembourgers call the "Al Bréck" (or Old Bridge), we took a short walk through the judicial buildings, and onward towards Cathedral Notre-Dame.

We had planned to go to the cathedral yesterday, but by the time we got to this point, everyone was so tired that we saved it for today. We actually got here about 10:30 am, but the main sanctuary was closed for the morning, so we decided to go to the National Museum of History and Art. Unfortunately, there are no pictures allowed in museums, so you don't get to see them. Trust me though, there are lots of artifacts. Interesting artifacts.

After lunch, we walked by my language school, and onward to the cemetery Notre-Dame, which is not anywhere near the cathedral. There are lots of nice granite and stone tombstones and monuments. I've taken quite a few pictures previously, but I admit that, at this point, I was quite tired, footsore, and dehydrated, so this artistic picture is from the bench.
We finally went to the cathedral after a quick stop to buy (cold!) water and a short walk back through town. By Europe standards, it's not a terribly large cathedral, but it is one of the biggest in Luxembourg, at least.
We visited the crypt where several previous Dukes and Grand-Dukes are buried. Lions are a theme of the Grand Dutchy, so this melancholy fellow has lots of fellow statues throughout the town.

After the cathedral, we stopped at a craft store, ate some ice cream, and then finally took a bus home. We will go eat at one of our favorite italian restaurants a bit later.
